Bareskrim Hands Over Rp 55 Billion Online Gambling Case to Prosecutors, Emphasising Professional Investigation
The Cyber Crime Directorate of the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency has handed over suspects and evidence in an online gambling (judol) case worth Rp 55 billion to the Prosecutor’s Office. Bareskrim emphasised that the investigation into the judol case was conducted professionally. “The implementation of this Phase II demonstrates that the investigation process has proceeded professionally and has been declared complete. Subsequently, the handling of the case becomes the authority of the public prosecutor to bring it to trial,” said Deputy Head of Subdirectorate 1 of the Cyber Crime Directorate of Bareskrim Polri, Commissioner Rizki Prakoso, in a statement quoted on Wednesday (1/4/2026). The handover of Phase II in this judol case signifies that the case file has been declared complete (P21) and is ready to proceed to the prosecution stage in court. In that process, Public Prosecutor Murari Azis officially received the suspects and evidence from the investigators. Commissioner Rizki explained that this Phase II handover is an important part of the chain of law enforcement against online gambling practices that were previously uncovered. During the handover, Polri investigators also submitted various pieces of evidence, including cash suspected to originate from judol activities valued at around Rp 55 billion. That value reflects the large scale of the gambling network successfully uncovered by Polri. Meanwhile, Public Prosecutor Murari Azis stated that his side has received all suspects and evidence and is ready to continue the legal process to the next stage. “We have received the handover of suspects and evidence from the investigators. Next, we will study it thoroughly and immediately hand over this case to the court for prosecution,” said Murari. Now, all suspects are under the responsibility of the Public Prosecutor for further legal proceedings at the South Jakarta District Court. This case relates to alleged criminal acts of gambling as regulated under applicable Indonesian laws. Commissioner Rizki emphasised that his side will continue to coordinate with the prosecutor’s office to ensure the smooth running of the legal process up to the trial stage. He stressed that this step is a form of Polri’s commitment to eradicating judol practices firmly and sustainably. “Bareskrim Polri is committed to cracking down firmly on all forms of cyber crime, including online gambling, and ensuring that all legal processes run transparently, accountably, and provide legal certainty,” he asserted. Currently, the trial schedule is still awaiting determination by the court. Meanwhile, Polri investigators assure that they will continue to support the prosecution process by fulfilling the needs required by the prosecutors.
