Banjarmasin (ANTARA) — The National Development Planning Ministry (Bappenas) is strengthening data-driven inclusive financial access in South Kalimantan to accelerate productive sector added value and reinforce regional economic growth.

“Policy formulation to leverage South Kalimantan’s economic potential now relies on data utilisation such as the Regional Financial Access Index (IKAD),” said Bappenas Director of Sharia Economy and State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Rosy Wediawaty whilst delivering a presentation at the 2026 Regional Coordination Meeting of the Regional Financial Access Acceleration Team (TPAKD) across South Kalimantan in Banjarmasin on Monday.

She stated that village potential and various sectors in South Kalimantan need to be bridged with inclusive financial access so that productive sector participants can increase added value and strengthen regional economic growth.

“Based on regional profile data, South Kalimantan’s economic structure is currently still dominated by the mining and quarrying sector, contributing 29.47 per cent to the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP),” she said.

According to her, the province’s grassroots economic strength is evident from the distribution of 849 villages based on food crops and 634 villages in the plantation sector. Additionally, 119 villages focus on fisheries and 30 villages on horticulture.

“This data forms the basis for us to formulate well-targeted policies, particularly in optimising the highly diverse potential of these villages,” she said.

Furthermore, capital strengthening is supported by the presence of 214 Village Unit Cooperatives (KUD) and 244 Savings and Loans Cooperatives, which are expected to serve as driving forces for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the region.

“Bappenas continues to push for synchronisation between physical infrastructure availability and ease of access to sharia financing to ensure that digital economic transformation in South Kalimantan progresses hand in hand with local wisdom,” said Rosy.
