Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of National Development Planning/Head of the National Development Planning Agency (PPN/Bappenas) Febrian Alphyanto Ruddyard has emphasised the importance of systematic, measurable, and integrated development planning in addressing increasingly complex global dynamics.

In a statement received in Jakarta on Friday, he noted that the current global conditions show rising trade tensions, increasingly sharp competition between countries, and even a tendency towards conflict. In these dynamics, technologies such as artificial intelligence become determining tools in inter-country competition.

“In the midst of a world that is changing so rapidly, we are still given the opportunity to pause for a moment, sit together, and think about the direction ahead. In such uncertainty, forums like Musrenbang (Development Planning Deliberation) become increasingly important, because the global supply chain that we once considered stable has become fragile today,” he said at the Provincial Development Planning Deliberation (Musrenbangprov) of West Java.

In addition to global challenges, the Deputy Head of PPN also highlighted domestic challenges, including the need to increase productivity, strengthen the economic structure, and the uneven adoption of technology.

“In situations like this, we have no room to proceed in an ordinary manner. We need a leap. However, a leap can only occur if we have a clear direction and aligned steps,” said Febrian.

In the 2027 Government Work Plan (RKP), national economic growth is targeted to grow in the range of 6.3 to 7.5 per cent, as part of steps towards the 8 per cent target. West Java is considered to play a strategic role as the province with the largest population and significant economic contribution to the national level.

The Deputy Head of Bappenas emphasised the urgency of preparedness in facing a future full of uncertainty.

“In the midst of an increasingly uncertain world, what differentiates is not who is the biggest, but who is the most prepared. That preparedness comes from strong planning, reliable data, and solid cooperation,” he stated.
