Thousands of worshippers from various areas in Purwokerto, Central Java, gathered at Purwokerto Square to perform the Eid al-Adha prayer on Wednesday (27/5), while Banyumas Regency received two cattle donated by President Prabowo Subianto.

Regent of Banyumas Sadewo Tri Lastiono, alongside Deputy Regent Dwi Asih Lintarti and the regional leadership coordination forum (Forkopimda), joined the congregational prayer with the local community.

Regent Sadewo extended Eid al-Adha greetings to all Muslims in Banyumas Regency and commended the community for performing the sacrificial ritual as an act of social care and solidarity.

“On behalf of myself and the Banyumas Regency Government, I wish all Muslims in Banyumas a blessed Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah. Thank you to the community for carrying out the sacrificial ritual,” Sadewo said.

He urged residents to pray for Banyumas-based Hajj pilgrims currently performing rituals in the Holy Land, wishing them smooth proceedings and good health until their return home. “May they find ease in completing all Hajj rituals and return as accepted Hajis and Hajjas,” he added.

He emphasised that Eid al-Adha is a crucial moment to emulate the values of sacrifice, compassion, and sharing. He hoped these values would be consistently applied in daily life. “May the spirit of sharing not only appear during specific occasions but be preserved every day,” he said.

Following the prayer, Sadewo confirmed Banyumas received two cattle donations from President Prabowo Subianto. One was distributed via the regency government, the other directly to a pesantren (Islamic boarding school) in Sirau Village. “One was given directly to the Sirau pesantren, while the other through the local government. If I recall correctly, the Sirau cattle came from Boyolali weighing around 800 kilograms,” he explained.

The cattle distributed through Banyumas Regency Government weighed 1.1 tonnes and were sourced from local Banyumas farmers. The Simental breed was presented at Al Istiqomah Waqf Mosque in Kauman Lama Village, Purwokerto Timur District. “Alhamdulillah, the government-distributed cattle weighed 1.1 tonnes and came from local Banyumas farmers,” Sadewo stated.

Approximately 2,000 meat packages from the presidential cattle donation will be distributed to residents across various Banyumas areas, including Kebasen and Cilongok districts.

Sadewo expressed hope the cattle donation would benefit those in need. “May the President’s cattle donation prove beneficial for deserving Banyumas residents,” he said.

He noted a growing trend of communities donating cattle for sacrifice due to its practicality and ability to be shared collectively. “I see that cattle donations in various communities are increasingly common as they are more practical—one cow can be contributed by several people,” he said. (H-2)

The large Simental cattle were purchased from Teguh Topo (35), a livestock farmer in Ploso Village, Purwantoro District, Wonogiri Regency.

Sacrifice committees must separate dirty areas such as slaughter and skinning zones from clean areas for meat cutting and packaging.

The President’s cattle donation programme not only has social impact but also provides direct economic benefits for local farmers.
