Banyumas Police Prepare "Travel Assistant" Service for Mudik Travellers
Purwokerto — The Banyumas City Police (Polresta Banyumas) is preparing a travel assistant corridor service model to support travellers passing through Banyumas Regency, Central Java, during the 2026 Eid holiday exodus (mudik).
“We have been preparing various aspects, including our travel assistant corridor service model, to ensure that travellers passing through Banyumas feel supported by our personnel,” said the Head of Polresta Banyumas, Senior Police Commissioner Petrus Silalahi, at the Polresta Banyumas headquarters in Purwokerto on Thursday.
He stated that the service involves police, local government, and community organisations to provide assistance should travellers encounter difficulties during their journey.
According to Silalahi, Polresta Banyumas has prepared mobile workshops to assist stranded vehicles, mobile medical services to provide first aid to drivers experiencing health issues, and tow vehicles where necessary.
Furthermore, he noted that service facilities have been positioned in the Ajibarang area, which is expected to experience significant vehicle traffic, particularly during the return journey (mudik balik), especially for travellers heading towards the Pejagan toll gate in Brebes Regency.
“We have held meetings to prepare various traffic management measures when vehicle volume increases, including flow control systems at Wangon and Purwokerto,” he said.
He explained that the Wangon area serves as the entry point for vehicles from the southern part of Central Java, whilst Purwokerto is the entry point from the central route.
According to Silalahi, these traffic management measures have been implemented to prevent congestion at the Ajibarang petrol station intersection.
In addition to traffic management, Polresta Banyumas is also preparing various facilities at security checkpoints for travellers needing rest areas, including health screening services, toilets, and massage chairs.
The Polresta Banyumas will also promote a WhatsApp chatbot service from the Central Java Police Traffic Management Directorate, accessible via the number 0877-1101-1010, which travellers can use to obtain various information during their journey, the police chief stated.
