Banten Provincial Government Threatens Strict Sanctions Against School Principals and Teachers Acting as Brokers in High School and Vocational Admissions
The Banten Provincial Government has urged the public to exercise caution regarding brokers who promise prospective students acceptance into public schools in exchange for a sum of money. The provincial government will also take firm action if any rogue officials are involved in the student admission system (SPMB) brokerage.
“I hope parents are not tempted by invitations or promises to enter specific public high schools, and that is not true, because we monitor and supervise all schools comprehensively,” said the Head of the Banten Provincial Education and Culture Office, Jamaluddin, in Serang City on Tuesday (12/5/2025).
It is known that the Banten Provincial Government is currently opening the pre-SPMB process for public high schools, vocational schools, and religious high schools from 20 to 31 May 2026. Students must participate in the pre-SPMB period by creating an account and uploading the required data for verification.
Jamaluddin has asked prospective students or parents to report any fraudulent practices during the pre-SPMB and SPMB periods. He promised to investigate such issues.
“If there are any fraudulent incidents, report them to the Banten Provincial Education Office through the helpdesk. It will also be opened later, as the SPMB implementation has not yet taken place. Later, if there is fraud, we will open a complaint channel. Report to the complaint channel, and we will investigate,” he said.
He stated that no one can alter or tamper with the student admission system. The provincial government hopes that this year’s SPMB implementation will proceed honestly and fairly.
“Yes, I think, whether it’s the position of department head or anyone else’s, just ignore it. That is not true because we have secured everything,” he said.
He also conveyed that action will be taken if any officials act as brokers or promise prospective students success and acceptance in SPMB.
“Whoever it is, if there are naughty school principals or teachers, naughty operators, report to the office. We will investigate. If they are at fault, there will certainly be heavy, moderate, or light sanctions, depending on whether they are right or wrong. Why are there these issues? As mentioned earlier, comfortable zones and uncomfortable zones,” he said.
