Banten Regional Police Chief Inspector General Hengki stated that Ciwandan Port is currently operating smoothly and normally despite increasing numbers of motorcyclists arriving for the mudik (homecoming) period. Hengki reported that no passenger congestion has yet been observed at the port.

This was disclosed by Hengki following his visit to Ciwandan Port in Cilegon City on Saturday, 14 March 2026. During the inspection, he conversed with motorcyclists and distributed gift packages.

“From my observations since last evening through this afternoon, conditions at Bandar Bakau Jaya Port, Bojonegara, which handles logistics vehicles in categories 7, 8, and 9; including at Merak Port; and including at Ciwandan Port, Pelindo 2 Ciwandan, are generally safe and operating smoothly,” he said.

Hengki noted that some truck queuing occurred on Jalan Lingkar Selatan (JLS). He clarified that the truck queuing was not congestion, but rather vehicles waiting to enter Ciwandan Port.

“On Jalan Lingkar Selatan (JLS), there are vehicles in categories 5 and 6B that are waiting in queue – not congestion. Not congestion. They are waiting to board the ferry,” he stated.

Hengki emphasised that no traffic congestion has yet developed heading to the port. Field personnel remain able to manage conditions effectively.

“So there is no traffic congestion in Banten Police jurisdiction up to today; all operations are running smoothly,” he said.

Observations by field personnel at Ciwandan Port on Saturday, 14 March 2026 showed that the port had begun filling with motorcyclists heading home. Motorcycles bearing registration plates from the Jabodetabek region were increasingly dominating the queue.

They appeared to be carrying various belongings on their motorcycles to transport to their hometowns. Many motorcyclists carried backpacks and large bundles secured to the rear of their bikes.

Field personnel were observed reminding motorcyclists to switch off their engines whilst queuing. This reminder was announced through loudspeakers.
