Banten Police Chief Inspects Ciwandan Port, Proposes Changes to Ticket-Checking Flow for Motorcycle Mudik
Banten Police Chief Inspector General Hengki inspected preparations at Ciwandan Port in Cilegon, which will be used specifically for motorcycle mudik during the Eid al-Fitr exodus. Hengki assessed the queuing system, especially the ticket-checking process. The inspection was conducted on Wednesday (4 March 2026), accompanied by Banten Deputy Police Chief Brigadier General Hendra Wirawan and other officials, with Pelindo, the port operator, also in attendance.
The port is projected to accommodate around 4,800 motorcycles. There are 12 lanes prepared, with each lane expected to handle about 400 vehicles. In the waiting area, UMKM tents, portable toilets, security posts, and health posts will be provided. Hengki called for improvements to the ticket distribution system.
He highlighted problems during last year’s Eid exodus. He said tickets were only collected after the ship had berthed. ‘In 2025 there was a minor finding: the ship was opened, only then were the tickets taken,’ he said. This caused queues because officers needed around 20 minutes to process tickets. Hengki urged that mudik tickets this year be checked before berthing to speed up boarding. ‘We hope there will be onshore ship agents at land who, once the ship berths and the door or ramp is opened, will be escorted by traffic officers to board the ship at Dermaga 5A1, 5A2, 7, or Dermaga 2 Pelindo Ciwandan,’ Hengki said.
