Banten Police Chief Deploys Personnel on Ships During Lebaran Exodus
The Banten Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Hengki, has announced plans to deploy combined personnel on every ship operating from Merak Port and Ciwandan Port to ensure safe and comfortable travel for citizens during the Lebaran exodus.
“We are deploying security teams on board ships in accordance with standard operating procedures. We are involving personnel from both the Mobile Brigade and the Water Police,” he said.
“Every ship departure, whether outbound or returning, is secured by the Mobile Brigade and Water Police. There are also TNI elements present, creating an integrated operation,” he added.
In addition, Hengki outlined the readiness of facilities that will be used by travellers. However, he noted that several road improvements and refinements remain ongoing.
“There are expressway sections still being refined, including road markings that are being repainted and so forth,” he said.
Previously, Police Chief Irjen Hengki reported that 3,972 combined personnel had been placed on standby and 57 posts established across Banten Police jurisdiction. Hengki stated that personnel are ready to be deployed in Operation Ketupat from 13 to 25 March 2026.
“The total number of personnel from the National Police, TNI, local government, various ministries, Basarnas, and BMKG comes to 3,972 personnel,” Hengki said.
“We have prepared 57 posts, comprising 39 security posts, 10 service posts, 6 integrated post locations, and 2 disaster management post locations. These 57 posts are distributed across Banten Police jurisdiction, spanning 4 regencies and 2 cities,” he explained.
For Operation Ketupat 2026, four ports have been prepared to serve exodus travellers: Pelindo Ciwandan Port, Krakatau Bandar Samudera Port, ASDP Merak Port, and Bandar Bakau Jaya Bojonegara Port.
“In accordance with the National Police Chief’s directive, this operation is a humanitarian operation providing safety and smooth passage for exodus travellers with the tagline ‘Safe Exodus, Happy Family’,” he concluded.
