Banten Department Head Crash Case Involving Primary School Students Elevated to Investigation
The Traffic Unit of Pandeglang Police Resort has elevated the status of the accident case involving Ahmad Mursidi, Head of the Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP) of Pandeglang, who struck a group of SDN Sukaratu 5 students. The case has been upgraded from investigation to full inquiry. “It was previously in the investigation process, and now it has been elevated to the inquiry stage,” said Ipda Sofyan Sopan, the Head of the Traffic Enforcement Unit at Pandeglang Police Resort, when contacted on Tuesday (5/5/2026). Sofyan stated that the police have so far examined several witnesses. However, no suspect has been named in this case yet. “(Suspect) not yet,” he said. The parent of the deceased student, Tuti, believes there was an element of negligence on the part of the driver, Ahmad Mursidi. According to her, Mursidi’s condition, as he was ill, forced him to drive the car, which ultimately led to the loss of life. “There must be negligence and intentional elements; he knew he was sick but insisted on driving the car, endangering others,” she said. Tuti then demanded justice for losing her child. She hopes the perpetrator will be processed according to applicable regulations. “I hope for the fairest justice; at least he takes responsibility for his actions in any form. And the process should not be covered up; if mediation is to happen, don’t cover it up—the perpetrator is an official, afraid it will just disappear,” she said. It is known that in this case, a Toyota Innova vehicle with licence plate A-1633-BF driven by the Head of the Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP) of Pandeglang Regency, Ahmad Mursidi, struck a group of SDN Sukaratu 5 students in Majasari Subdistrict, Pandeglang Regency, on Thursday (30/4). There were nine victims in the incident. Two others were reported dead, namely Dewi Handayani, a trader; and Muhamad Milal, a student.
