Bank Indonesia (BI) recorded a year-on-year growth in banking credit of 9.49 percent in March 2026. This position is a slight increase compared to the previous month, which grew by 9.37 percent.

Governor of BI Perry Warjiyo detailed that, based on usage groups, investment credit grew 20.85 percent year-on-year; working capital credit grew 4.38 percent year-on-year; and consumer credit grew 5.88 percent year-on-year.

“Bank Indonesia projects that credit growth in 2026 will remain stable in the range of 8 to 12 percent, influenced by both demand and supply sides,” he said during the press conference following the BI Board of Governors Meeting on Wednesday, 22 April 2026.

Perry assessed that from the demand side, the utilisation of bank financing can still be improved. In March 2026, undisbursed loans or facilities that have not yet been used reached Rp 2,527 trillion, equivalent to 22.59 percent of the available credit ceiling.

Meanwhile, from the supply side, Perry stated that banks’ financing capacity remains adequate. This condition is supported by the Liquid Assets to Third-Party Funds ratio (LA/TPF) of 27.85 percent and third-party funds that still grew by 13.55 percent year-on-year in March 2026.

Perry also mentioned that interest in bank credit distribution remains good, reflected in the still loose credit granting requirements, except in the consumer credit and MSME segments due to high credit risk in those two segments.

“Going forward, Bank Indonesia will continue to strengthen the banking sector’s funding capacity, including the development of non-traditional funding instruments or non-TPF to support bank credit distribution,” said Perry.
