PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) has launched a new product, the Umrah Savings Account. Director of Sales & Distribution at BSI, Anton Sukarna, said that this savings account is expected to be a financial solution for customers who will be going on Umrah, from financial planning to easy transactions while in Saudi Arabia.

Anton said that the Muslim population in Indonesia reaches 246 million people. Furthermore, the number of pilgrims performing Umrah in 2025 is expected to reach 2 million people. “Secondly, if we look at it, Umrah is now not only a religious obligation, but also a lifestyle, so it’s a spiritual journey for people,” said Anton at the launch of the Umrah Savings Account at BSI Tower on Monday, February 23, 2026.

Previously, Hajj and Umrah savings were combined into one product. However, after further consideration, Hajj and Umrah have different markets. This is because Hajj requires a waiting period and is limited by quotas. Therefore, Bank Syariah Indonesia created a special product for Umrah pilgrims.

The Umrah Savings Account can be in the form of Rupiah or US dollars, with an initial deposit of IDR 100,000 or USD 10. The minimum subsequent deposit is IDR 10,000 or USD 5. The minimum balance for the Umrah Savings Account is IDR 50,000 or USD 10. This account does not have an administration fee, but there is a fee of IDR 20,000 or USD 5 for account closure.

Anton stated that the account can be opened from a young age, namely 0 years old, so children can also have an Umrah Savings Account. In addition, this account is integrated with Bewize BSI, which allows partner travel agencies to manage referred customers, including monitoring savings funds with the customer’s consent.

This account is also equipped with a Debit Visa Mabrur card, which allows customers to make transactions in Saudi Arabia. “Specifically regarding the card, this card is tap-enabled. In the past, we had to use a PIN to shop, but now it can be tapped directly. So please be careful when using it,” said Anton.

The use of the Debit Visa Mabrur card has an administration fee of IDR 4,000 per month. With this card, customers can withdraw up to IDR 15 million, transfer between BSI accounts up to IDR 100 million, make online transfers up to IDR 50 million, shop offline up to IDR 100 million, and shop online up to IDR 10 million.
