JAKARTA – PT Bank Permata Tbk has affirmed it is not restricting the growth of its sharia business despite the Sharia Business Unit (UUS) assets not yet reaching the business separation or spin-off threshold.

Rudy Basyir Ahmad, Director of Finance and Sharia Business Unit at Bank Permata, stated that UUS assets as of December 2025 stood in the range of 35 to 36 trillion rupiah.

This figure remains below the spin-off threshold established under the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Regulation No. 12 of 2023.

The regulation stipulates that spin-off shall be conducted when UUS assets reach a minimum of 50 trillion rupiah or equivalent to 50 per cent of the parent company’s total assets.

“So from the 50 trillion rupiah threshold there is still a gap,” said Rudy during a public exposure at the company’s office in Jakarta on Thursday, 12 March 2026.

Rudy emphasised that this situation does not mean the company is deliberately restricting the growth of sharia business to avoid conducting a spin-off immediately.

The company is also not specifically driving aggressive growth merely to accelerate reaching the 50 trillion rupiah asset threshold.

Bank Permata has chosen to focus on sustainable growth.

“We ensure growth that is sustainable, not artificially inflated to accelerate, but that which is truly sustained. But we are also not restricting anything, we see that as long as opportunities to grow exist, we will continue to grow,” he explained.

This approach is considered important to ensure the business is in a more prepared condition when the spin-off is implemented.

Bank Permata is also working to strengthen the balance sheet structure of the sharia business to make it more diversified.

Additionally, improving service quality to customers has become one of the focuses to expand the customer base.

The company wishes to ensure sharia banking services can reach various segments of society.

“The most important thing is how to ensure that Bank Permata Syariah can serve all segments, sharia for everyone. Because our current motto is sharia for everyone,” he said.
