Bank Mega Syariah Distributes Food Packages and Assistance to Orphaned Children
Jakarta — In observance of the holy month of Ramadan as an opportunity to deepen social responsibility, PT Bank Mega Syariah (BMS) has launched its annual “Mega Syariah Berbagi” (Mega Syariah Sharing) programme. Through this initiative, Bank Mega Syariah distributes assistance to communities surrounding its branch networks throughout Indonesia.
At the main event held at Menara Mega Syariah in Jakarta on Monday, 9 March 2026, Bank Mega Syariah Chief Executive Officer Yuwono Waluyo symbolically handed over the assistance to representatives of beneficiaries. This year, the Mega Syariah Berbagi programme distributed over 2,800 food packages to disadvantaged and poor residents in the vicinity of Bank Mega Syariah’s head office and branch offices in various cities across Indonesia.
Beyond the company-provided food packages, this year’s Ramadan occasion was enhanced by the distribution of assistance to over 200 orphaned children funded through donations from Bank Mega Syariah employees. This initiative demonstrates the spirit of sharing that permeates the bank’s internal corporate culture.
The programme also serves as an educational platform for the public regarding the importance of ZISWAF instruments (zakat, infaq, alms, and religious endowments) in maintaining social equilibrium. Bank Mega Syariah continues to facilitate customer access to charitable giving through donation features in its M-Syariah mobile banking application, in partnership with trusted ZISWAF institutions to ensure that distributions are precisely targeted and transparent.
Beyond its social dimension, the strengthening of digital services and the sharing programme has had a positive impact on customer trust. This is reflected in Bank Mega Syariah’s third-party funds (DPK) performance, which reached over Rp12 trillion by December 2025, growing more than 11 per cent year-on-year. Of this total, low-cost funds (CASA) reached Rp4.00 trillion or contributed 33.8 per cent of total DPK.
“Going forward, we remain committed to integrating banking products with values of virtue,” said Yuwono. “We invite customers not only to save for the future, but also to invest in the hereafter through easily accessible digital zakat and charitable giving.”
