KOMPAS.com - Gubernur Jambi Al Haris has assured that the losses suffered by Bank Jambi customers due to the hacking of the digital service system will be fully reimbursed. The replacement funds will come from Bank Jambi’s profits for the 2025 financial year. ‘In 2025 Bank Jambi made a profit of Rp330 billion; this is what will be used to compensate the customers. In essence, not a single rupiah should be missing; all must be paid,’ Al Haris said in Jambi on Friday (6 March 2026).

Funds of Rp16 billion have been traced and are being recovered. If that money can be retrieved, Bank Jambi will still have to cover the remaining loss of about Rp127 billion to affected customers.

Al Haris said the decision to use company profits to cover the losses was made at a management and shareholders’ meeting on 25 February. ‘We had a meeting with the shareholders some time ago; essentially the shareholders agreed that, as profits accrue, they will be used to cover the money lost by customers,’ he said.

Initial data indicate more than 6,000 customer accounts were affected by the hack. ‘BI has directed that the service should not be opened for now, and there are replacements that need to be made. The equipment has been replaced; verification by Bank Indonesia remains,’ Al Haris said.

Previously, investigators from the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation (Reserse Kriminal Khusus) of the Jambi Regional Police recorded that Bank Jambi’s losses from the disruption to the digital service amounted to Rp143 billion. The disruption caused more than 6,000 customers to lose account balances on 22 February. Kombes Pol Taufik Nurmandia, head of the Directorate, said investigators are still questioning a number of witnesses in connection with the case. ‘The losses from breaching the digital service’s security amount to Rp143 billion, arising from more than 6,000 customers whose money briefly disappeared from their accounts,’ he said. Investigators have also questioned the Bank Jambi’s President Director and several other parties to deepen the probe into the bank’s service system hacking.
