Bank Indonesia Tegal Launches Digital Currency Exchange Service at 61 Locations
Bank Indonesia’s Tegal Representative Office in Central Java has launched a digital currency exchange service at 61 locations distributed across seven districts and cities of the former Pekalongan Residency region as an effort to prevent queuing and provide convenience to the public.
The head of Bank Indonesia Tegal’s representative office, Bimala, stated on Monday in Pekalongan that digital transformation through the Pintar platform will reduce public queuing for online currency exchange orders and avoid the risks of counterfeit currency circulation.
“Through this online booking system, members of the public no longer need to arrive early to queue. Everything is scheduled so that services become more certain, orderly and convenient,” she said.
The digital currency exchange service system also aims to ensure more equitable distribution of new denomination notes throughout Bank Indonesia Tegal’s working area, which covers Brebes Regency, Tegal Regency, Tegal City, Pemalang Regency, Pekalongan Regency, Pekalongan City and Batang Regency.
Members of the public can place currency exchange orders online through the web-based Pintar application, which can be accessed via the website pintar.bi.go.id.
According to her, the use of the digital system also helps Bank Indonesia manage exchange quotas at each service location so that the public does not accumulate at a single location.
“This step is simultaneously part of an effort to encourage digitalisation of public services that is increasingly adaptive to public needs,” she said.
She stated that the office is also operating mobile cash vehicles to reach the public at various locations.
“Information on schedules and locations of mobile cash vehicles can be monitored through Bank Indonesia Tegal’s official social media accounts, so the public can adjust their time and place of currency exchange according to the established schedule,” she said.
