The Central Sulawesi branch of Bank Indonesia (KPwBI Sulteng) is preparing Rp2.86 trillion in cash to meet public demand for money exchange services ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2026. This amount consists of Rp2.58 trillion in large denominations (Rp50,000 – Rp100,000) and Rp277.6 billion in small denominations (Rp20,000).

“We believe this amount is sufficient to meet the projected public demand of Rp1.76 trillion, a 16 percent increase compared to the previous year,” said the Head of KPwBI Sulteng, Muhamad Irfan Sukarna in Palu, Wednesday (February 25).

According to him, the increased demand for cash is influenced by several factors, including the payment of Eid bonuses (THR) for civil servants, the military, the police, and private sector employees. The tradition of sharing during Ramadan, including the distribution of social assistance to maintain the purchasing power of vulnerable communities, and increased economic activity due to increased public mobility and potential additional holidays.

Therefore, to support the fulfillment of Rupiah needs, KPwBI Sulteng has organized the ‘Semarak Rupiah Ramadan and Berkah Idul Fitri’ (SERAMBI) 2026 program.

“This program has been running since February 18, 2026, with the theme ‘Rupiah Gives Meaning in the Month of Blessings’,” said Irfan.

The SERAMBI program focuses on three main things: First, maintaining sufficient availability of Rupiah, on time, and in good condition. Second, providing money exchange services that reach the wider community through banking. And third, educating the public about Loving, Being Proud of, and Understanding (CBP) Rupiah, including recognizing genuine money, caring for Rupiah, and spending wisely.

Meanwhile, to improve services, KPwBI Sulteng has taken several strategic steps. These include adding 11 mobile cash services in the cities of Palu and Parigi Moutong. The ‘Peduli Mudik’ service will be held at the Tipo Terminal (March 9, 2026) and the Donggala Port (March 12, 2026). Strengthening cooperation with banks through 26 Rupiah exchange service points in Palu, Tolitoli, Poso, Bungku, Luwuk, and Pasangkayu. A total of 22 banks are involved with a total of 52 service frequencies, more than double the previous year. And optimizing the PINTAR application to ensure an orderly, equitable, and transparent exchange process.

Throughout the implementation of SERAMBI 2026 until the end of February, the service is expected to serve approximately 2,700 customers.

“Registration through PINTAR for the period of March 2-13, 2026, will open on February 27, 2026, at 09:00 WITA. Registration can be done through participating bank offices or Bank Indonesia’s mobile cash services,” said Irfan.

KPwBI Sulteng also encourages the public to check Rupiah using the 3D method (Look, Feel, and See-through), shop according to their needs and abilities, exchange money through official Bank Indonesia and banking services to avoid additional fees or the risk of counterfeit money, and care for Rupiah as a valid means of payment and a symbol of state sovereignty.

“With these steps, KPwBI Sulteng ensures that the public can worship in peace and still have enough cash during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr,” concluded Irfan. (H-3)
