Bangli's Potential Regional Revenue Reaches IDR 12 Billion from Bali Trail Run Ultra
A total of 5,917 participants from various countries took part in the BCA Bali Trail Run Ultra 2026. The running event, which features a route along the hiking trails of Mount Batur, Abang, and Agung, has the potential to generate regional revenue (PAD) for Bangli Regency reaching IDR 12 billion.
“Last night, the cheapest accommodation was IDR 500,000. Multiply that by two, multiply it by the 5,000-plus participants. That alone will go into the regional treasury,” said Regent of Bangli Sang Nyoman Sedana Arta after releasing participants in the 7K category at Batur Natural Hot Spring, Kintamani, Bangli, Bali, Sunday (17/5/2026).
Sedana Arta said that this revenue is based on only 50 percent occupancy of all hotels and accommodations in Bangli Regency. This does not include restaurants and entrance fees to other tourist attractions in Kintamani, which also have the potential to generate regional revenue.
During the three days of the Bali Trail Run, he said, hotel and accommodation occupancy in Bangli was fully booked. According to him, some participants stayed in the Ubud and Denpasar areas.
“Because hotels and restaurants all pay taxes. Not to mention entrance fees. There are already more than 1,000 hotel rooms, accommodations, and glamping sites (in Bangli) that have been booked,” said Sedana Arta.
He believes that the BCA Bali Trail Run Ultra is a means of promoting tourism in Bangli. Sedana Arta hopes that the event will become the largest international trail running sports event in Indonesia.
“This event has actually been categorized as international. Because of the large number of participants. That’s why Mount Batur is very suitable to be used as a location for trail running,” he said.
Vice President of BCA, Eka Putu Ananta, said that the number of participants in the Bali Trail Run Ultra 2026 increased compared to last year. According to him, the increase in participants reached 48 percent compared to the previous event, which was attended by 4,007 participants.
“As much as 90 percent of the participants are domestic, and 10 percent are international from 50 countries. But there is no limit on the percentage of domestic or foreign participants,” said Ananta.
Ananta believes that this increase was triggered by the high enthusiasm of trail running enthusiasts who participated in the event. Therefore, limiting the number of participants was done for the safety and comfort of the participants. “The number of participants has indeed been limited considering safety,” he added.
As observed by detikBali, this trail run was not only attended by adults. A number of child participants also took part in the 7K category.
The longest route in the BCA Bali Trail Run Ultra this time is the 100K or 100.6 kilometer (Km) category. Hundreds of 100K participants were released from the starting point at Batur Natural Hot Spring on Friday (15/5). This route crosses the hiking trails of three mountains: Mount Batur, Mount Agung, and Mount Abang.
