Regent of Bandung, Dadang Supriatna (KDS), has emphasised the direction of development transformation in Bandung Regency, focusing on strengthening villages while enhancing global competitiveness.

He conveyed this during the ceremony commemorating the 385th anniversary of Bandung Regency, combined with the 147th Hari Kartini, on Monday (20/4/2026) at Upakarti Field, Soreang.

In his speech, KDS stated that the anniversary momentum is not merely a ceremony, but a reflection on the region’s long journey and an affirmation of future development directions. This year’s theme, “Bandung Lebih BEDAS: Ngarawat Lembur, Ngaronjatkeun Jaman”, serves as the main foundation.

“Ngarawat lembur reflects development centred on villages, the environment, and the community as the main subjects. Meanwhile, ‘ngaronjatkeun jaman’ is a commitment to continuously adapt, innovate, and enhance regional competitiveness,” said KDS.

In his second term of leadership alongside Deputy Regent Ali Syakieb since being inaugurated on 20 February 2025, KDS affirmed his commitment to delivering more directed, measurable development based on community needs, towards the grand vision of a more BEDAS, advanced, and sustainable Bandung Regency.

Several macro indicators show positive achievements. The 2025 Human Development Index reached 75.58 points, up from 74.59 points the previous year.

The poverty rate dropped to 6.04 per cent, while extreme poverty was reduced to 0.5 per cent. On the other hand, economic growth reached 6.32 per cent, a significant increase from 5.04 per cent.

In the public services sector, Bandung Regency Government completed the construction of five BEDAS Regional General Hospitals in Cimaung, Kertasari, Tegalluar, Arjasari, and Pacira areas as an effort to bring health services closer. Meanwhile, stable road infrastructure reached 65 per cent in 2025 and is targeted to increase to 74 per cent in 2026.

Social programmes are also being strengthened, including repairs to uninhabitable houses (rutilahu), construction of new schools, and expansion of higher education access through the BESTI scholarship programme and the Regional Golden Indonesia Scholarship (BIED).

In the environmental sector, KDS highlighted the serious issue of waste management, which reaches around 1,800 tonnes per day, while the landfill disposal quota is limited to 280 tonnes. For this reason, Bandung Regency Government is promoting various solutions such as strengthening TPST and TPS 3R, zero waste programmes, and utilising waste processing technology to generate energy.

In addition, disaster mitigation efforts are being strengthened, including through aeroseeding with the dispersal of around 5.2 million seeds in priority areas. KDS invited the entire community to actively participate in preserving the environment and increasing disaster preparedness.

“Starting from simple things like managing waste, maintaining rivers, to planting trees, all are part of our collective efforts to maintain environmental sustainability,” he said.

In government governance, Bandung Regency has again recorded an achievement by earning an Unqualified Opinion (WTP) for the ninth consecutive time. In addition, the Monitoring, Controlling, Surveillance for Prevention (MCSP) score from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) reached 94, the highest in West Java and fourth nationally.

This momentum was also combined with the 147th Hari Kartini commemoration. KDS emphasised the importance of women’s role as a strategic force in regional development.

“Women must continue to be encouraged to play an active role in various sectors, both education, economy, social, and leadership,” he said.

Concluding his speech, KDS invited all elements of society to strengthen unity and commitment in realising an advanced, superior Bandung Regency that remains rooted in local values.

“With the spirit of Bandung Lebih BEDAS, let us nurture the villages and advance the era for the welfare of the people of Bandung Regency,” he concluded.
