Bandung Regency Government is anticipating a surge in the prices of essential goods ahead of Lebaran 2026. The step is taken by holding subsidised cheap-market operations (OPM) and a Ramadan Bazaar to maintain household economic stability.

The activities, held in Soreang, were opened by Bandung Regent Dadang Supriatna, on Thursday (5/3) at Lapangan Upakarti, Soreang.

Dadang stressed that government intervention is needed as food price trends tend to rise during this holy month.

‘The Ramadan Bazaar and subsidised OPM this year 2026 have direct benefits for the people. They are important instruments for us to control inflation, especially ahead of Idul Fitri when demand for staple foods surges,’ he added.

In this OPM, the regional government provides significant subsidies to ease the burden on residents. A package of staples containing 5 kg of premium rice, 2 kg of sugar, 2 litres of cooking oil, and 1 kg of wheat flour is priced well below market values.

‘ThI’ve instructed the Department of Trade and Industry and all regional device heads to increase cheap-market operations. We must ensure people’s purchasing power remains intact and inflation remains controlled,’ he asserted.

Inflation: To date, inflation in Bandung Regency stands at 3.01%. The figure is claimed to be below national and provincial averages, demonstrating the effectiveness of cross-agency coordination in maintaining price stability in the market.

Not only focusing on food commodities, the OPM running until 8 March also serves as a platform for 144 small and medium enterprises (IKM) and local micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM).

Dicky Anugerah, acting head of the Bandung Regency Department of Trade and Industry, stated that the bazaar aims to stimulate the people’s economy.

‘This bazaar is a regular event in collaboration with Dekranasda to promote local products while ensuring the availability of goods. In addition to cheap shopping, we also provide public services such as free health checks and processing NIB (Business Identification Number),’ he said.

Through cross-sector collaboration, the Bandung Regency government is optimistic that the ‘Bedas’ vision (Bangkit, Edukatif, Dinamis, Agamis, Sejahtera) can continue to be felt by the wider community, especially in facing current global economic dynamics,’ emphasised Dicky.
