Bandung Public Order Agency Seals Four Illegal Alcohol Kiosks
The Bandung Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) has taken firm action against the circulation of illegal alcohol in the city. In a surprise operation prompted by public complaints, officers sealed four kiosks and seized various types of high-alcohol-content beverages.
Head of the Bandung Satpol PP, Bambang Sukardi, explained that the operation was a direct response to numerous reports from residents about rampant alcohol sales in several strategic locations. “We have been receiving public complaints about the presence of alcohol sales for several days. Not only in Leuwipanjang, but also in other locations,” he said on Thursday (11/6/2026).
The operation initially targeted a kiosk on Jalan Moch Toha. However, officers faced a setback as two other kiosks suspected of selling alcohol had already closed their businesses before the team arrived. The officers then moved to the Leuwipanjang area.
Along the Leuwipanjang stretch, Satpol PP discovered three kiosks still operating and proven to be selling alcoholic beverages. Officers immediately confiscated the evidence on site and sealed the premises as a legal enforcement measure.
Bambang stressed that the operation was conducted without prior notice to ensure effective enforcement on the ground. “We deliberately carried out this unannounced action as a follow-up to public complaints. We urge the community to continue reporting any violations of local regulations (perda) in their neighbourhoods,” he added.
All findings from the operation will be processed according to legal provisions, including through the minor criminal offence (tipiring) court mechanism. The owners of the sealed kiosks are scheduled to be summoned to the Satpol PP office for further examination.
Bambang also highlighted the dangers of cheap alcohol circulation, such as ciu, which has the potential to cause significant social harm, especially among the younger generation. He called on business operators to support the vision of Bandung as a religious and conducive city.
“I appeal to alcohol sellers, please stop. Let us support the city government’s programmes. Bandung is a religious city, and the community wants to create a comfortable environment,” he concluded.
Satpol PP Bandung is committed to conducting gradual supervision and enforcement to ensure public order and protect the community from the negative impacts of illegal alcohol.
