Bandung City Police Intensify Segmental One-Way System to Ease Nagreg Traffic Congestion
Bandung (ANTARA) - The Bandung City Police (Polresta Bandung) in West Java have intensified traffic engineering efforts involving a segmental one-way system on the Nagreg route to alleviate congestion for vehicles heading eastwards. Bandung Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Aldi Subartono, stated in Bandung on Thursday that, as of 3:15 PM WIB, the segmental one-way system had been implemented three times in collaboration with relevant parties. “We are informing about the situation on the Nagreg route as of 3:15 PM WIB. We, Polresta Bandung, in collaboration with West Java Police (Polda Jabar) and the Transportation Agency (Dishub), have carried out the segmental one-way system,” he said. He explained that the traffic engineering measure had been applied from the Limbangan area, which falls under the jurisdiction of Garut Police Resort, up to the Nagreg area under Bandung City Police jurisdiction. “In total, we have carried it out three times today,” he added. According to him, this traffic engineering step has been deemed effective in facilitating the flow of vehicles heading towards Limbangan and Garut. “Alhamdulillah, this CB segmental one-way system is very effective, and the congestion has been resolved,” he said. On the same occasion, the Public Relations Officer of the Bandung Regency Transportation Agency, Eric A. Prabowo, explained that the average number of vehicles passing through reached around 7,000 vehicles per hour today. He stated that the traffic engineering efforts by the joint team have managed to maintain smooth vehicle flow despite the continuously increasing volume. “We see that the traffic count is very high, but the traffic density in the Nagreg area can be said to be smooth. There have only been a few instances of backups, which were due to the engineering process for opening and closing the flow,” he clarified. The Bandung Regency Transportation Agency also noted that the volume of vehicles passing through up to 2:00 PM WIB reached 98,010 vehicles, or about 71% of the total 24-hour vehicles from the previous day, which hit 137,032 vehicles. If calculated since H-7 of Lebaran, the total vehicles crossing the Nagreg route up to now has reached 497,584 units, dominated by those heading eastwards, such as to Garut, Tasikmalaya, and Central Java.
