Bandung (ANTARA) - Bandung City Police, West Java, are implementing several special strategies to ease vehicle congestion for Eid holiday travellers on the Nagreg mudik route during the 2026 Eid exodus.

Head of Bandung City Police, Commissioner General of Police Aldi Subartono, in Bandung on Thursday, stated that this traffic arrangement has been in place since H-7 (seven days before) Eid, particularly to anticipate long queues of holiday vehicles at vulnerable points such as Cikaledong and Pamuncatan.

“On H-3 last Wednesday (18/3), we implemented one-way segments five times, and today on H-2, it has been done four times. This scheme is applied due to the density of holiday vehicles trailing from Pasar Limbangan to Nagreg,” he said.

Aldi stated that Bandung City Police are also managing the mudik flow on a rotational basis and positioning personnel at strategic points to ensure smooth travel for holidaymakers.

He added that Bandung City Police have established an Integrated Post at Lembur Kaheman on the Nagreg route at kilometre 36 to respond more promptly to any issues or congestion at the incident locations.

“This year, we have deployed 1,733 combined personnel spread across 21 mudik security posts, ready 24 hours to manage traffic flow and provide assistance to holidaymakers if needed,” he said.

Based on ANTARA observations, several waves of holiday arrivals reached Nagreg at various times and were immediately addressed with one-way traffic engineering segments.

These arrival waves and responses created fluctuating vehicle flows between dense and light traffic in cycles of about 10 to 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, the Bandung Regency Transportation Agency recorded 129,328 vehicles passing through the Nagreg route heading to southern West Java by H-2 at 8:00 PM WIB, expected to be the peak for this year’s mudik traffic.
