Bandung City Government Records 18,036 Sacrificial Animals for Eid al-Adha
Bandung (ANTARA) – The Bandung City Government has recorded 18,036 sacrificial animals for the 1447 Hijriah Eid al-Adha that have undergone health checks by a joint team.
Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan said approximately 65% of the total sacrificial animals were sheep and goats.
“Of the 18,036 animals inspected, 65% were sheep and goats,” Farhan said in Bandung on Wednesday.
He confirmed all inspected sacrificial animals are healthy and fit for slaughter. Inspections and monitoring will continue until the days of Tasyrik.
“All are healthy and fit, and we are currently inspecting each slaughter site,” Farhan said.
He stated that monitoring ensures the slaughter process meets standards and that the distribution of sacrificial meat reaches the intended beneficiaries.
“Until the days of Tasyrik. Insha’Allah, we will also visit to observe and ensure that animal slaughter adheres to standards and is properly distributed to the needy,” he said.
Farhan urged the public to view Eid al-Adha as an opportunity for gratitude and sacrifice to build Bandung.
“Since January 2026 until today, we have received numerous blessings in various forms of happiness. However, challenges remain significant,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Bandung City Food Security and Agriculture Department confirmed no cases of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) among inspected sacrificial animals ahead of Eid al-Adha.
Head of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Health Section at the Bandung City Food Security and Agriculture Department, Wilsandi Saefuloh, said healthy sacrificial animals receive special stickers as proof of passing health checks.
“Regarding contagious diseases like FMD, thank God none have been found so far. This is a key requirement in our inspections,” Wilsandi said.
He added that the stickers include a barcode that the public can scan to view the animal’s identity and health check results.
“The sticker also has a barcode. Each animal has an identity stored in the sticker. The public can scan it via an app to check the inspection results,” Wilsandi said.
