Bandung Barat Regent Jeje Oversees Slaughterhouse Operations During Idul Adha
Bandung Barat — The Animal Slaughterhouse (RPH) in Bandung Barat Regency, West Java, was busy on Idul Adha 1447 Hijriyah, Wednesday, 27 May 2026. The district government-owned facility processed 60 sacrificial cattle donated by the public.
Regent of Bandung Barat Jeje Ritchie Ismail donated one cow and personally oversaw the slaughter process at the RPH located on Purwakarta Road, Campaka Mekar Village, Padalarang Subdistrict. The regent’s donated cow was slaughtered by Bandung Barat Vice Regent Asep Ismail.
“I witnessed the sacrificial animal slaughter process at the Bandung Barat RPH firsthand. The vice regent also personally slaughtered one cow,” said Jeje.
This year’s Idul Adha saw 60 cattle donated to the Bandung Barat RPH, including a single cow weighing over one ton donated by the regent. Twenty cattle were slaughtered on the first day, with the remainder processed on Thursday, 28 May.
Jeje stated that the recently inaugurated RPH is modern and meets national standards. The slaughterhouse serves as a strategic step to strengthen the local livestock ecosystem, boost productivity, and ensure the availability of safe, healthy, intact, and halal (ASUH) animal-based food.
“The Bandung Barat RPH is an integrated facility to enhance hygiene, food safety, and slaughter service quality across the regency,” Jeje said.
Wiwin Aprianti, Head of the Regency’s Fisheries and Livestock Department, said the animals donated for slaughter at the Bandung Barat RPH came from surrounding areas and neighbouring regions, including Bandung City.
A total of over 60 personnel, including staff and volunteers, were deployed to process the sacrificial animals at the RPH. “The cattle donated by the public at the Bandung Barat RPH are typically owned by seven people per animal, meaning around 420 individuals participated in the sacrifice,” Wiwin explained.
She also recounted how Vice Regent Asep Ismail slaughtered a one-ton-plus Friesian Holstein cow donated to the RPH. The sacrificial meat was distributed to residents near Masjid Ash-Shiddiq.
“The regent donated one sacrificial animal here, which the vice regent personally slaughtered. We also virtually witnessed the sacrifice of President Prabowo’s donated animal in Gununghalu,” Wiwin said.
