Balisani operates cargo ferry
SEMARANG (JP): Balisani Group Jakarta will start operating container ferries between Jakarta and Surabaya soon to benefit from growing trade between East Java and the capital.
Company president Haryogi Maulani said yesterday Balisani would operate three ferries which could carry 160 containers each.
The new ferry service would also help reduce traffic along Java's north coast, he said.
Haryogi said the ferry service operation would be the group's first cargo ship operation in Indonesia.
Balisani also operates the cruise ship Aegean Delphi which serves the Monaco-Rome-Venice-Athens route.
The company also has agricultural, tourist and construction operations. (har/02)
