Bali Governor Wayan Koster, through Deputy Governor I Nyoman Giri Prasta, delivered an explanation regarding the general views on the draft regional regulation concerning the management of high-quality tourism businesses in Bali during the Bali DPRD plenary session on Friday (24/4/2026). Koster, via Giri Prasta, responded to the general views from the Gerindra-PSI Faction regarding the types of tourism, namely sport tourism and spiritual tourism, incorporated into the draft regulation. According to him, both types of tourism represent phenomena in the tourism sector that have developed very rapidly in Bali, and the Bali Provincial Government has opportunities to develop this tourism potential. “However, in tourism legislation, there is no nomenclature for these two types of businesses,” he explained. Both types of tourism are only included in various existing tourism businesses. In addition, Giri also provided responses to views from other factions, such as long-stay permits for tourists, which can later be used as criteria and references for quality tourists. “Because length of stay is related to spending money, and it is also an indication of the tourists’ financial capability,” Giri clarified. The regulation will also prohibit tourists from renting motorbikes. This is intended to maintain the safety and comfort of tourists while in Bali. “This is aimed at avoiding traffic violations that could lead to traffic accidents, so it is recommended that tourists utilise four-wheeled vehicles that meet the requirements,” he stated.
