Bali’s Secretary General (Sekda), Dewa Made Indra, has denied rumours suggesting he will become a commissioner at PT Bali Turtle Island Development (BTID) after his retirement. The rumours emerged amid the development of the Kura Kura Bali Special Economic Zone (KEK) in Serangan, Denpasar.

“It is just made-up stories from outside to stir things up. But I have no knowledge of it at all, and I do not even know the owner,” Indra said when met at the Bali Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) Office on Wednesday (6/5/2026).

Indra emphasised that he has no idea about the origin of the circulating rumours. He urged that the matter be questioned to those spreading the rumours.

Nevertheless, Indra confirmed his attendance at the working visit of the House of Representatives’ Commission VII to the Kura Kura Bali KEK on Monday (4/5). However, he clarified that his presence was to represent Governor Wayan Koster as an invited guest.

“Wherever I go, it is always on assignment from the Governor,” Indra stated.

It is known that PT BTID is currently under spotlight due to allegations of clearing mangrove forests in the Kura Kura Bali KEK. The case surfaced based on findings by the Special Committee (Pansus) on Spatial Planning, Assets, and Permits (TRAP) of the Bali Provincial Parliament (DPRD).

PT BTID itself did not attend the Hearing Meeting (RDP) held by the Pansus TRAP DPRD Bali earlier this week. The meeting was intended to discuss the alleged land swap involving mangrove areas purportedly conducted by BTID in the Karangasem and Jembrana regions.

Recently, several retired officials from the Bali Provincial Government (Pemprov) have been known to occupy strategic positions at PT BTID, including former Head of the Provincial Licensing Agency AA Sutha Diana, former Head of the Forestry and Environment Agency (KLH) AA Ngurah Buana, and former Head of the Transportation Agency IGW Samsi Gunarta.
