Denpasar (ANTARA) - The Narcotics Criminal Investigation Directorate of Bali Regional Police has thwarted the circulation of 1,284 ecstasy-type narcotic pills valued at around Rp1.28 billion in the South Kuta area, Badung Regency, Bali.

Bali Police Narcotics Criminal Investigation Director Commissioner Radiant, during a press conference in Denpasar on Tuesday, stated that the bust was based on Police Report Number: LP/A/73/IV/2026/SPKT.Ditnarkoba/Polda Bali dated 12 April 2026.

In this case, officers secured a suspect with initials AB (34), from Jember, East Java, who acted as the courier.

Radiant explained that the MDMA-type narcotics were intended to be distributed in several night entertainment venues and cafes.

“However, so far the exact locations are unknown because the individual is still awaiting orders from someone with initials N,” Radiant said.

He explained that the case’s revelation stemmed from community information regarding alleged narcotics transactions in the Bualu Village area, South Kuta.

Following up on this information, officers conducted an investigation and successfully apprehended the suspect on Sunday (12/4) around 20:20 WITA at a night entertainment venue in the Benoa area.

From an initial search, officers found three broken tablets suspected to be ecstasy.

Subsequently, development led to the suspect’s residence in the Pemogan area, South Denpasar.

From the search of the rented room, officers found one box containing five clear plastic packets, each filled with pink-coloured tablets bearing the TMT logo, hidden above the ceiling.

The total evidence seized amounted to 1,284 pills with a net weight of about 634 grams.

Based on the suspect’s statement, the illicit goods were obtained from an unknown person under the direction of an individual with initials N, who is now on the wanted persons list (DPO).

The pickup of the goods took place in the Sunset Road area, Denpasar.

The suspect admitted to carrying out the act due to economic reasons.

From this bust, Bali Police estimate the value of the evidence at Rp1.28 billion and it has the potential to save 1,284 lives from narcotics abuse.

For his actions, the suspect is charged under Article 114 paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 on Narcotics, with threats of the death penalty, life imprisonment, or imprisonment for a minimum of six years and a maximum of 20 years.

Bali Police Narcotics Criminal Investigation Directorate emphasised that it will continue to develop this case to uncover a wider narcotics distribution network, both national and international.
