Bali Police Deploy Hundreds of Personnel to Maintain Order During Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr
Denpasar – The Bali Regional Police and subordinate police districts are deploying hundreds of personnel to maintain public safety and order (kamtibmas) ahead of the Nyepi celebration and Eid al-Fitr 1447 AH.
Kombes Pol. Suwandi Prihantoro, Director of Community Policing at Bali Regional Police, stated in Denpasar on Sunday that thousands of personnel are participating in Operation Agung 2026 (Operasi Cipta Kondisi Agung 2026), which encompasses various police functions including criminal investigation, cybercrime, narcotics, and traffic control.
In total, the operation involves 699 personnel, comprising 155 officers from the Regional Police task force and 544 personnel from subordinate police districts.
Operation Agung 2026 will run for eight days, from 1 to 8 March 2026.
Suwandi said the operation represents a concrete step by the Indonesian National Police (Polri) in collaboration with relevant agencies to ensure Bali remains safe and conducive whilst the community observes religious practices and celebrates the festive holidays.
“The primary objective of Operation Agung 2026 is to create a safe and conducive public security situation ahead of the Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr celebrations, whilst reducing crime rates and addressing various potential security threats across Bali,” he stated.
He emphasised that the operation is not merely a routine annual agenda, but rather a demonstration of the moral responsibility and dedication of Polri to enable the community to celebrate sacred occasions with a sense of safety, order, and comfort.
The operation’s activities prioritise preventative and proactive measures, supported by professional law enforcement.
Activities include early detection of potential security disturbances, public education and guidance, patrols and limited inspections in high-risk locations, and action against criminal offenders.
According to Suwandi, the increased mobility of the population and vehicle traffic during the festive period poses various risks, ranging from traffic congestion and conventional crime to social conflict and potential natural disasters.
“Public movement will increase significantly. We must remain vigilant to developments in the field, conduct early detection, and never underestimate any situation,” he said.
As Deputy Operations Commander for Operation Agung 2026, Suwandi also emphasised the importance of providing humanitarian and professional service throughout the operation.
Personnel were instructed to prioritise a persuasive approach and uphold ethical standards in their duties.
“Avoid arrogant attitudes, promote education, and take firm action in accordance with standard operating procedures when violations are discovered,” he stated.
Through this operation, Bali Regional Police aim to ensure that the atmosphere of tolerance and solidarity on the Island of the Gods remains intact, so that the community can celebrate Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr in tranquillity, full of meaning, and with a sense of brotherhood.
