Bali Police: Bloodstain DNA Matches Mother of Ukrainian Kidnap Victim
Denpasar – The Bali Regional Police’s Directorate of General Crimes has confirmed that DNA from a bloodstain found at a villa and in a Toyota Avanza used by the perpetrators is identical to the DNA of Ihor Komarav’s mother, a Ukrainian citizen. The 28-year-old is believed to be the kidnapping victim. Public Relations Head of the Bali Police, Ariasandy, in Denpasar on Wednesday said this was based on forensic laboratory tests of blood samples found by investigators at two locations linked to the kidnapping. ‘If the blood splatter found at the villa, then in the Avanza car used by the perpetrators, we matched with the victim’s mother’s DNA; it is identical,’ he said. According to Ariasandy, from the DNA match, investigators suspect the victim Ihor Komarav was abducted by six perpetrators using a Toyota Avanza, and was restrained at a villa located in Tabanan, Bali. ‘What is clear,’ he added, ‘from the blood traces, we can confirm that the abducted victim was transported using that vehicle and was temporarily placed in the villa where we found blood stains. Because it is identical, the DNA matches.’ Bali Police have placed the six foreign nationals on the wanted list (DPO) and submitted an Interpol red notice to be pursued. ‘We are still pursuing them, coordinating with relevant parties, including Interpol. The DPO and red notice have been issued,’ he said. Bali Police confirmed that four of the foreigners have fled Bali, while the remaining two are still detected in Indonesia.
