Denpasar (ANTARA) - The Denpasar Immigration Office in Bali has deported a Swiss national with the initials BFM for conducting illegal fundraising activities for stray dogs.

"He carried out fundraising without a legal entity in Indonesia," said R. Haryo Sakti of the Denpasar Class I Immigration Office on Wednesday.

BFM was deported via I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on a Qatar Airways flight on the Denpasar-Doha-Zurich route.

Immigration officers apprehended BFM on Tuesday (20 May) following reports from the public regarding illegal fundraising activities for stray dogs. During questioning by the Immigration Intelligence and Enforcement Division, BFM admitted to entering Indonesia on a tourist stay permit and visa on arrival.

"This raises suspicion that the collected funds were also being used for his personal benefit," Haryo added.

However, Haryo did not disclose the amount of funds collected by BFM, nor when the fundraising activities had commenced.

He explained that BFM was found to have violated Article 75 paragraph (1) of Law Number 6 of 2011 on Immigration. In accordance with regulations, an administrative measure in the form of deportation was imposed, and BFM will be proposed for inclusion on Indonesia's entry ban list.

The entry ban decision will be determined by the Central Immigration Office after reviewing and considering the full details of the case. Under Article 102 of Law Number 6 of 2011 on Immigration, an entry ban may be imposed for a maximum of six months and may be extended for a further six months on each occasion.

Additionally, a lifetime entry ban may be imposed on foreign nationals deemed capable of disturbing public security and order.

"We want to maintain security and order in our territory and ensure that every foreign national respects the laws and norms applicable in Indonesia," he said.
