Bali hotel gets warning
JAKARTA (JP): Bali's governor, Ida Bagus Oka, has ordered the Sol Elite Paradiso Hotel in Kuta to reduce the height of the concrete roofs of its main building and pavilions to comply with the province's regulation on building and construction.
According to the regulation, the height of every building in Bali should not exceed the height of a coconut tree, or about 15 meters, the governor said.
"In addition, the building should use Balinese architecture," he was quoted by Antara as saying.
The 16.25-meter tall hotel is much higher than the 14.9 meter height stated in its blueprint, he said.
The hotel owner's most important priority was to build walls between the hotel and the Pura Segara Hindu shrine, as stipulated in the building permit, he said.
The governor also asked the hotel's owner to redesign the hotel's interior to include Balinese nuances. He said the hotel's current appearance was more akin to a Hollywood-style hotel. (04)
