Bali air show
Referring to the news report in The Jakarta Post of Aug. 23, 2001 edition entitled Bali to host international air show, I would like to make some corrections of inaccuracies found in the report.
It was written: "... the Wisnu airfield originally belonged to the Dutch colonial air force". In fact the Wisnu airfield is a new airfield built by Buleleng Regency, which is located some 60 kilometers west of the regency capital, Singaraja. It has nothing to do with the Dutch colonial air force.
It is not true that Buleleng is the poorest regency in Bali. Buleleng has been promoting tourism to boost its economic growth. Agriculture and aquiculture also play a significant role in the regency's economy. In addition, Buleleng is well-known for its variety of fruit, coffee and cloves.
The building of the Wisnu airfield is an effort of Bululeng regency to promote what it has to offer.
