Bahlil Launches 20 Free Homecoming Buses, Destinations from Indramayu to Madiun
Jakarta – Golkar Party organised a free homecoming (mudik) initiative for 2026 to assist thousands of citizens. Twenty buses were dispatched under the supervision of Golkar Party chairman Bahlil Lahadalia at the party’s central office in West Jakarta.
The 20 buses were deployed to destinations in Central Java, East Java, and West Java.
Prior to the departure, Bahlil greeted the homebound travellers and offered prayers for their safe arrival at their hometowns. Approximately 1,000 passengers were dispatched.
“This represents Golkar Party’s presence alongside the people in facilitating our citizens’ return to their hometowns to celebrate Eid al-Fitr with their families. We pray that they arrive safely at their destinations and can reunite with their loved ones. I believe that is what needed to be conveyed,” Bahlil said.
Bahlil noted that all homecoming participants would receive provisions and pocket money. The passengers’ destinations included Solo, Klaten, Yogyakarta, Madiun, Boyolali, Bantul, Magelang, Cirebon, and Indramayu.
Bahlil regards homecoming as holding particular significance. It is not merely a return to one’s hometown, but also an opportunity to reconnect with family and childhood friends.
“That is the essence of homecoming. It is wonderful to be able to share meals with family, meet with childhood friends, see elderly parents if they are still living, and spend time with other acquaintances. That is the meaning,” Bahlil said.
Bahlil acknowledged that should the opportunity arise, he too would undertake a homecoming journey to his hometown.
“As a man of the countryside, celebrating Eid in Jakarta is important, but it is far more important for me to return to my hometown, and God willing, I too shall undertake the homecoming journey,” Bahlil stated.
