Bahlil Discusses Mining Sector Revenue-Sharing Scheme and Crude Oil Prices for Fuel with Prabowo
Jakarta – President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto summoned the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia to the State Palace in Central Jakarta on Tuesday, 5 May 2026. During the meeting, Bahlil said he discussed global crude oil prices for fuel (BBM). “I happened to be called by the President to discuss several developments, including the crude oil price for BBM against the ICP,” Bahlil stated. In addition, Bahlil discussed plans to reorganise the mining sector. He mentioned that in the future, the state aims to hold many mining areas as an implementation of Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution. “In particular, for mining operations both old and new, we will try to optimise the state’s revenue to the maximum,” he explained. He clarified that the reorganisation in question involves changing the revenue-sharing method. Bahlil gave an example of revenue sharing from oil and gas management in Indonesia so far. “Our oil and gas has cost recovery and gross split; perhaps those patterns will be what we try to apply to build cooperation with the private sector,” Bahlil said. Meanwhile, Bahlil revealed that the government will still grant permits or concessions to private parties or business entities to manage those natural resources. However, there will be additional instruments provided so that the government can optimise state revenues. “Still concessions, but we will optimise the revenue so that it is balanced with the state, and the state should get a larger share,” he concluded.
