Bahlil Assures Indonesia's Crude Oil Supply is Secure Until December 2026
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, stated that the government has secured Indonesia’s crude oil supply until December 2026. This is particularly following the bilateral meeting between Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday (13/4/2026) in Russia. “For crude oil, one year from this month until December, insha Allah, it is already secure. So we don’t need to worry; we just need to increase our refinery production,” he said when met after the Limited Meeting with President Prabowo at the State Palace on Thursday (16/4/2026). On the price side, he said the Indonesian Government will continue to strive for the best prices. At least, he continued, equivalent to the current market price. “We will still seek the best prices. Clearly, we will try not to exceed the market price. Prices below the market are much better, but at minimum equal to the market price,” he stated. Bahlil also assured that the government has secured crude oil supplies from Russia. As is known, a day after the meeting between the two heads of state of Indonesia-Russia, Bahlil also held a meeting with Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev on Tuesday (15/4/2026). This meeting is a follow-up to the high-level discussions between President Prabowo and Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin the day before. Not only securing crude oil supplies, according to him, the results of that meeting also include commitments from the Russian side to build infrastructure in Indonesia to increase energy resilience. “Alhamdulillah, yesterday following the instructions of the President, I met with the Russian Energy Minister and Special Envoy of President Putin, and the news is alhamdulillah quite encouraging that we will receive crude oil supplies from Russia and the Russian side is also ready to build several important infrastructures to increase our national reserves and energy resilience,” said Bahlil, after the meeting at the Palace on Thursday (16/4/2026). In addition, according to Bahlil, his side is also continuously conducting intensive communications regarding LPG supplies for Indonesia from Russia. As is known, Indonesia imports around 7 million tonnes of LPG every year. “In addition, we are also communicating regarding LPG. We know that our LPG is around 7 million tonnes imported every year and now we are diversifying and insha Allah we will also get support, but this still requires effort, still needs two or three stages of communication, but for the crude, I think it’s almost final,” he said.
