Bahlil Affirms No Electricity Tariff Increase!
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, has affirmed that there will be no increase in electricity tariffs this May 2026. This statement addresses public complaints regarding the alleged rise in electricity tariffs.
“Up to today, as I speak, and based on the exercises we have conducted, there has been no increase in electricity tariffs. If there is one in the future, it will be announced,” Bahlil clarified after the Limited Meeting (Ratas) at the State Palace on Tuesday (5/5/2026).
Previously, PT PLN (Persero) also advised the public to be wary of misleading information circulating on social media regarding the issue of electricity tariff increases without prior notice.
Through an official post on the Instagram account @pln_id, the company emphasised that such news is untrue, amounting to hoaxes.
PLN stated that as of now, there is no increase in electricity tariffs. The government has set the electricity rates to remain in effect for the Second Quarter 2026 period, namely April to June 2026, the same as the previous period.
“In fact, there is no increase in electricity tariffs. The government has determined that electricity tariffs remain the same for the April-June 2026 period as in the previous period,” PLN wrote, quoted on Tuesday (5/5/2026).
PLN then reminded the public to always access information from official sources, either through the website or the company’s official social media channels. The details of the applicable electricity tariffs for that period include the following:
Household 900 VA RTM: Rp1,352/kWh
Household 1,300-2,200 VA and business 6,600 VA-200 kVA: Rp1,444.70/kWh
Household over 3,500 VA: Rp1,699.53/kWh
Business and industry over 200 kVA: Rp1,122/kWh
Industry over 30,000 kVA: Rp996.74/kWh
