Badung Police Department Maps 601 Procession Points for Ogoh-Ogoh Parade during Pengerupukan Eve
The Badung Police Department has mapped 601 procession points for ogoh-ogoh parades during Pengerupukan, the evening celebration the day before Nyepi Day. Security arrangements are being conducted with maximum intensity, with additional personnel reinforcement from the Bali Regional Police.
“We have obtained data indicating that 601 ogoh-ogoh procession points will be taking place in our jurisdiction. Naturally, we are deploying personnel at maximum capacity with assistance from the Regional Police,” stated Badung Police Chief AKBP Joseph Edward Purba on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.
The Badung Police Department’s jurisdiction covers the northern Badung region, whilst southern Badung falls under the jurisdiction of Denpasar City Police.
Joseph confirmed that every village and subdistrict organising a procession will receive police escort coverage. Approximately 500 combined personnel will work in synergy with village officials to maintain regional stability.
“We are involving roughly 500 personnel in addition to personnel on temporary assignment from the Regional Police,” stated the former Karangasem Police Chief.
The Badung Police Department has also prepared traffic management schemes and temporary road closures at points considered prone to congestion. Primary security focus will be concentrated on areas with high population density.
“For example, in the central areas such as Mengwi and North Kuta,” he explained.
This year’s Pengerupukan coincides closely with Eid al-Fitr 1447 AH. He urged residents to continue prioritising religious tolerance.
“I appeal to all residents to maintain public security and order and realise inter-faith religious tolerance during both Eid al-Fitr celebrations and Nyepi celebrations. Follow and comply with regulations and local wisdom applicable during Nyepi Day, such as restrictions on outdoor activities,” he added.
Furthermore, police reminded residents not to set off firecrackers excessively and to avoid consuming alcoholic beverages during the ogoh-ogoh procession. He invited residents to report any potential security disturbances.
“Please report immediately to us, the Badung Police Department, through the emergency call centre 110 if you encounter any matters that could potentially cause security disturbances. Let us make this festive occasion an opportunity to strengthen kinship and tolerance so that we can realise an atmosphere that is secure, peaceful, and full of happiness,” he concluded.
