Bad weather fails to disturb voting

RUSSIA: In spite of sub zero temperatures in Moscow, more than hundred Indonesians came to the polling booth at the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow and exercised their right to vote on Monday.

From the Indonesian community in the Russian Federation, 151 people registered to vote. The voter turn out on the polling day was 93.88 percent.

Indonesian Ambassador to Russia Susanto Pudjomartono said in a press release sent to The Jakarta Post that 141 people exercised their democratic right despite the freezing weather.

Meanwhile, voters living outside Moscow in St. Petersburg, Samara and Krasnowdarki sent their ballots by post.

In the vote counting on the same day, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) secured the top position with 28 votes, while the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) came second with 23 votes and the National Mandate Party (PAN) was third with 21 votes. -- JP
