Jakarta (ANTARA) – Police are still investigating the case of a two-day-old baby girl, Ameera Ramadhani, found in a nasi uduk cart in front of a resident’s house on Jalan Pejaten Raya RT 01/02, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, on Tuesday afternoon (3/3).

‘The process is still at the stage of locating the baby’s elder sister named Zidan (12) because he is suspected of leaving the baby,’ said Pasar Minggu Police Chief (Kapolsek Pasar Minggu), South Jakarta, Kompol Anggiat Sinambela when contacted in Jakarta on Thursday.

The baby is believed to have been abandoned by her older sister after her mother died shortly after giving birth to Ameera Ramadhani.

Anggiat said that to date his side is still conducting further investigations into the case.

Head of the Social Service Office (Sudinsos) of South Jakarta, Bernard Tambunan, separately stated that the baby has now been handed over to the Tunas Bangsa Child Care Social Home, in Cipayung, East Jakarta. He explained that the surrender of the neglected baby took place on Thursday afternoon. He hopes that by entrusting the baby to a social home, there will be a prospective adoptive parent who can care for the baby in accordance with the applicable procedures. ‘If anyone wants to adopt, go straight to the child home. There are procedures there,’ he said.

A live baby girl, estimated to be two days old, was found in a nasi uduk cart in front of a resident’s house on Jalan Pejaten Raya RT 01/02, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (3/3) afternoon.

After receiving the information, officers of the Pasar Minggu Police Station visited the scene and confirmed the baby’s condition with witnesses. The baby was found wearing a blue teddy bear-patterned outfit and wrapped in a white blanket. In the bag there were several other items including infant formula, wet wipes, gloves, and a note on a slip of paper.

The baby girl is estimated to be two days old based on the note written by a person named Zidan. He is suspected of deliberately abandoning the baby at the scene.

Eventually, witnesses reported the discovery of the live baby to the RT and the police. The information about the discovery was also reported to the Pasar Minggu Police via the WhatsApp group of the Pasar Minggu Police Station.

Then, at 19:55 Western Indonesian Time, the baby was taken to Pasar Minggu Community Health Center (Puskesmas) for further medical treatment.
