Baby dies due to lack of skin

BANDA ACEH, Aceh: A baby who became the talk of the town for
being born without abdomen skin on Jan. 1 died in hospital on
Tuesday.

"We did our best to save the baby's life but it died at about
11 a.m. Tuesday," Zainal Abidin, one of the doctors who treated
the baby, told Antara.

The baby, whose sex was unknown, was born otherwise healthy to
a farmer's wife in Ingin Jaya district with the help of a
traditional midwife.

The baby was the seventh child of Hajat and Hamidah. "My wife
had no indication whatsoever something was wrong when she was
pregnant," Hajat said.(pan)
