KUALA LUMPUR (Reuter): Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad's special police escort cleared clogged Kuala Lumpur roads yesterday to take a baby girl born in the Prime Minister's office to hospital.
The national news agency Bernama reported that 32-year-old Wan Mimi Wan Omar, an employee in Mahathir's office, began experiencing labor pains at around 2.00 p.m. (0600 GMT) and delivered the baby about five minutes later.
A programmer acted as midwife while waiting for an ambulance to arrive. He then took Omar to hospital in an office car, escorted by Mahathir's outriders.
