Australia detains Muna fishermen
KENDARI, Southeast Sulawesi: The Australian police have
arrested 19 fishermen from Maginti island in the Muna regency for
illegally entering Australian waters.
Southeast Sulawesi Governor La Ode Kaimuddin confirmed the
report yesterday, but said he had no idea when the arrest was
made.
At least 1,000 local fishermen have been arrested by Australia
for similar offenses since the 1980s, Antara reported.
"We have done a lot to stop them from doing so," La Ode said.
