The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) raided two Port Authority and Harbour Master Offices (KSOP) in connection with a corruption case involving illegal mining by tycoon Samin Tan.

Director of Investigations for the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, confirmed that the raids took place at the KSOP in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, and the KSOP in Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan.

“It is true [that the searches were conducted] in South Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan (Banjarmasin and Palangkaraya),” he stated when contacted via text message on Wednesday (1/4).

Syarief explained that the searches were carried out on Tuesday (31/3) from afternoon until evening. During the raid, investigators seized shipping documents from vessels owned by the suspect Samin Tan.

He clarified that these vessels are suspected of being used to export the proceeds of Samin Tan’s illegal mining activities conducted by PT Asmin Koalindo Tuhup (AKT) from 2017 to 2025.

“What was seized were shipping documents related to the suspect’s company and electronic evidence,” he added.

Previously, the AGO designated tycoon Samin Tan in a corruption case concerning the management of illegal mining in Central Kalimantan from 2016 to 2025.

In this matter, Samin Tan, as the beneficial owner or beneficiary of AKT, is alleged to have continued illegal mining and coal sales activities from 2017 to 2025 unlawfully.

In fact, PT AKT’s mining activities had been revoked through a Termination Letter in the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources’ Decree Number 3714 K/30/MEM/2017. However, the illegal mining activities continued because Samin Tan is suspected of colluding with rogue state officials.
