Attorney General's Office Raids Home of Ombudsman Commissioner and RI Ombudsman Office
Indonesia’s Attorney General’s Office (Kejaksaan Agung) conducted a raid on the Ombudsman RI office located on HR Rasuna Said Street, South Jakarta. The raid was in connection with an alleged bribery case involving a dropped cooking oil (migor) case.
“There was indeed a raid at the home of one of the commissioners (of the Ombudsman) and at its office today,” said Anang Supriatna, Head of Public Relations at the Attorney General’s Office, when asked for confirmation on Monday (9 March 2026).
However, Anang did not disclose the name of the Ombudsman commissioner in question. He explained that the raid was conducted in relation to a recommendation issued by the Ombudsman regarding cooking oil shortages from several years ago.
“He faces Article 21, which concerns obstruction of investigation and prosecution in the cooking oil case from back then, where the case was dropped (onslaag) by the court,” Anang explained.
Anang confirmed that the raid related to the Ombudsman’s recommendation that was used by a cooking oil company in a case brought before the Administrative Court (PTUN). The raid was still ongoing at the time of the statement.
“That’s correct, one of them at least. It’s still ongoing,” Anang said.
