Attorney General's Office Raids 14 Locations in Samin Tan Case, from Jakarta Homes to Offices in Kalimantan
The investigation into the alleged coal mining corruption case implicating businessman Samin Tan is progressing rapidly. Most recently, the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) carried out large-scale searches across several regions. A total of 14 locations were raided in this case development, with several important pieces of evidence secured by investigators. “The investigative team at the Gedung Bundar has conducted several search activities and seizure processes at various locations,” stated the Head of the Legal Information Centre of Kejagung, Anang Supriatna, on Monday, 30 March 2026. Of the total locations raided, the majority were in Jakarta and West Java, totalling 10 sites. These included the office of PT Asmin Koalindo Tuhup (AKT), the office of PT MCM, an affiliate, and the home of Samin Tan. In addition, the searches extended to Kalimantan. Specifically, three locations in Central Kalimantan and one in South Kalimantan. “In Central Kalimantan Province, there are three locations consisting of the office of PT AKT, the office of KSOP, and the office of mining contractor PT ARTH. And in South Kalimantan Province, located at the office of PT MCM. These are some companies that are still suspected to be owned by Mr ST,” he said. From the series of searches, investigators seized various pieces of evidence allegedly related to the mining corruption practices. This included documents, electronic evidence, and heavy vehicles at the mining sites. “The searches are ongoing for the seizure process. But the searches have been completed; they will be detailed later, compiled, collected, inventoried, and then the seizure will be applied for,” he explained. The evidence will subsequently be examined and cross-referenced with witness statements to uncover the roles of other parties, including alleged involvement of state officials. “The parties deemed related and accountable to the investigators have been identified,” he added. The case originated from the activities of PT Asmin Koalindo Tuhup (AKT) in Murung Raya Regency, Central Kalimantan. Although its mining permit was revoked in 2017, the company is suspected of continuing illegal operations until 2025. The Director of Investigation of the Jampidsus of Kejagung, Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, revealed Samin Tan’s role as the beneficial owner controlling the company’s activities.
