Attorney General's Office Invites Chromebook Corruption Defendant Ibrahim Arief to Prove Intimidation Claims in Court
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has invited the defendant in the alleged corruption case concerning the procurement of Chromebooks and Chrome Device Management (CDM) at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Ibrahim Arief alias Ibam, to prove the intimidation claims he raised during the trial. Head of the Legal Information Centre (Kapuspenkum) of Kejagung, Anang Supriatna, stated that all arguments presented by the defendant in his plea are rights that will be considered by the panel of judges. “Well, go ahead and prove what kind of intimidation it is. Right? And if there is indeed intimidation, feel free to report it,” Anang told reporters on Friday (24/4/2026). He emphasised that Kejagung is open to the defendant reporting and proving the matter. “The defence will then be considered by the panel. The important thing for us is that we have presented it based on the evidence available in the trial and it has been revealed. The right of the person concerned to deny or convince, go ahead, as long as it becomes the consideration of the panel of judges,” Anang stressed. He mentioned that the decree dated 8 June, signed by the relevant official, was made without his knowledge. “The assignment to supervise the procurement assigned to me as stated in the decree of 8 June signed by Hamid Muhammad was done without my knowledge,” Ibrahim said while reading his personal plea in the trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Thursday (23/4/2026). He stated that on 24 June 2025, he was contacted by someone who asked him to make a certain statement related to the case. “At that time, I was asked to make a statement pointing upwards. With the threat that if I couldn’t make such a statement, the case would be expanded,” Ibam said during a press conference in central Jakarta on Tuesday (21/4/2026).
