Attorney General's Office Claims to Continue Hunting Jurist Tan, Not Solely Relying on Interpol
JAKARTA - The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) claims to be continuously pursuing the fugitive in the alleged corruption case of Chromebook laptop procurement, Jurist Tan. Head of the AGO’s Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, stated that the pursuit of Jurist does not solely rely on Interpol but also involves various other institutions. “We continue to coordinate not only relying on the Interpol channel but also coordinating with other parties that we can consider to collaborate with institutions that can assist us,” Anang said at the AGO Building in Jakarta on Tuesday (12/5/2026). “We have requested a red notice for JT from Interpol Lyon through the NCB here. Until now, there has been no approval from the central Interpol side, so we are just waiting,” he revealed. Nevertheless, the AGO assures that the search process for Jurist Tan continues while awaiting the decision from Interpol. Anang emphasised that investigators are committed to bringing all fugitives in several corruption cases being handled by the AGO, including Mohammad Riza Chalid (MRC). Previously, the AGO had submitted a red notice request for Jurist Tan and Cheryl Darmadi through the Indonesian Interpol NCB. The request was submitted after the red notice for Mohammad Riza Chalid was officially issued by Interpol. In the Chromebook case, Jurist Tan was designated as a suspect for allegedly being involved in the corruption of Chromebook laptop procurement within the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology during Nadiem Makarim’s leadership.
