JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) attended the Easter Vigil Mass at Kalvari Catholic Church in Lubang Buaya Parish, East Jakarta.

On that occasion, AHY described the church area as a miniature of tolerance and harmony in diversity.

AHY also greeted the congregation present, both in person and virtually, in a joyful atmosphere ahead of the Easter celebration.

“The essence is how we can welcome it with joy. Tomorrow, Christians around the world will celebrate Easter with the spirit of resurrection, which fundamentally serves as a value for every nation, society, and individual,” said AHY on Saturday (4/4/2026).

According to him, the meaning of resurrection in Easter serves as an important reflection for national life.

“We want to rise from something that is not good; even from our failures, we can rise and have an optimistic hope for our future,” he continued.

AHY also highlighted the challenges that Indonesia will face in the future. However, he is optimistic that with the spirit of resurrection and unity, the Indonesian nation can overcome various trials of the times.

“Indonesia will face various challenges, but with optimism and the spirit of resurrection, I believe we can navigate all trials and ultimately realise an advanced and prosperous society,” he explained.

AHY appreciated the Kalvari Catholic Church in Lubang Buaya Parish, which he considers a real example of harmonious life among people of different faiths.

He described the area as a showcase of tolerance, especially due to its location on the border of East Jakarta and Bekasi.

“This is a miniature of tolerance, harmony in diversity, because it lives in harmony with followers of other religions and always brings benefits to the wider community,” he stated.

He also appreciated various church initiatives, including its recognition as the most environmentally friendly church area in the Archdiocese of Jakarta.

In addition, efforts to develop food security, such as livestock farming and productive use of limited land.

“We consider all this important, because even on limited land, it can still be productive and provide real benefits,” AHY concluded.
